Faculty

Our faculty is guided by School of Business and Leadership Dean Dan Moshavi and GMBA Program Director Elaine McCarty. The Green MBA faculty is a dynamic team of professional and academic leaders, providing our students with challenging, transformational and cutting edge insight into how to build and lead sustainable organizations. Faculty expertise includes environmental law and public policy, executive-level corporate sustainability management, environmental consulting, green and social marketing, critical and systemic thinking, economics, and strategic planning. All faculty members are committed to environmental and social responsibility on a professional and personal level.
Ethan Newby

Ethan Newby

Ethan Newby received his B.A. in Psychology from the University of California San Diego and went on to acquire a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. Since completing his education he has lived in Michigan, Massachusetts, and now San Francisco. Over the last ten years Mr. Newby has owned his own company, Newby Research. He specializes in using both qualitative and quantitative approaches to conduct research on user experiences.
Héctor Sáez

Héctor Sáez

Héctor Sáez, our new economics faculty, is an economist at Environment and Economy Consulting (www.environecon.com). He has taught in the business school at Santa Clara University, and at Presidio Graduate School. Before moving to San Francisco, Héctor was a research economist at Washington State University's Center for Sustaining Agriculture and Natural Resources.

Jane Lorand, JD, MA

Jane Lorand, JD, MA

Jane is Co-founder of the GreenMBA and a core faculty member. She works as a consultant to large corporations and state agencies, developing programs for public education in fields such as electric deregulation and telecommunications.
Jennifer Wells

Jennifer Wells

Jennifer Wells received her B.A. in Mathematics and Elementary Education from Beloit College in Wisconsin. She later received her M.B.A. in Finance and Marketing from the University of San Francisco. Jennifer has taught Financial and Managerial Accounting at the University of San Francisco and a wide range of mathematics and statistics courses at Convent of the Sacred Heart, the Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day School, and the Hamlin School.
John Lemmon, Ph.D.

John Lemmon, Ph.D.

John Allen Lemmon, Ph.D., was the founding editor-in-chief of Mediation Quarterly, named Best New Journal by the Professional and Scholarly division of the Association of American Publishers, and the model for the Yale School of Management’s Family Business Review. His books on mediation, social justice, and law have been adopted internationally as texts in professional programs. His next text will be 'Leading Sustainably', currently under consideration by Oxford University Press. Dr. Lemmon developed the leadership curriculum for the sustainable MBA at the Presidio School of Management.
John Stayton, MBA

John Stayton, MBA

John Stayton is the Co-founder and Director of the GreenMBA. John spent 15 years in the field of high technology industrial marketing and sales. As a person with many interests, he also concurrently managed projects ranging from international joint venture consulting to directing a performing arts troupe.

Jon E Ragatz, MBA, MM

Jon E Ragatz, MBA, MM

Jon ("JR") holds a Masters in Management Degree from Northwestern University's J L Kellogg Graduate School of Management and recently obtained a certification in Advanced Facilitation methods. In 1998, he founded Jon Ragatz, Consulting (www.uscconsulting.com) a Marin County-based company that provides organizations with "uncommon sense marketing consulting", including: developing/critiquing marketing and business plans; organizing, moderating and analyzing focus groups; and advising groups on sustainability marketing issues.

Julianne is President of Awake at Work – a consulting firm dedicated to "bringing conscious choice to work" so that executive leaders and management teams develop more ethical, socially responsible and conscious workplaces.
Lisa Chiapetta

Lisa Chiapetta

Received her B.S in Business and Marketing from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and her M.B.A. from Dominican University of California. Shortly after graduating from U of I, Lisa moved to San Francisco to pursue her marketing career. She was hired at Fleischman Field Research, a marketing research firm offering a comprehensive range of qualitative and quantitative research services.
Nils M. Langenborg

Nils M. Langenborg

He began his career at the international advertising agency, J. Walter Thompson where he honed his skills in creating results-driven marketing campaigns for companies like Chevron, Sprint, Dole, Castle & Cooke, Bumble Bee Seafoods, Sun-Maid, Sunsweet, Sheraton Hotels, and a host of others. He went on to launch a group of mutual funds for World Savings and Loan before joining up with Jack Morton Productions where he successfully supported the launch of the Intel Pentium Processor in retail stores, connected Apple Computer with the Smithsonian Institute to create an interactive exhibit for the Gems and Minerals Hall, and drove awareness of the PowerPC chip launch to attendees of COMDEX — at the time the world's largest trade show with over 100,000 attendees.

Roberto Piccioni, MS

Roberto Piccioni, MS

Mr. Piccioni has specialized experience in industry Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) and Sustainability programs management, consisting of environmental compliance and stewardship, air, water and waste management, employee safety assurance and corporate communications and reporting. Mr. Piccioni has worked for prominent Fortune 500 companies during his industry career. He is a Sustainability & Compliance consultant with ERM based in Walnut Creek, California and is a frequent speaker at industry forums on the topic of Sustainability, Social Responsibility and EHS management.
Susan Briski, MBA

Susan Briski, MBA

Susan Briski is Principal and founder of Sustainable Progress Consulting, provides consulting services to leading organizations to help them create a sustainable future and improve their triple-bottom-line performance; where business, the environment, and people prosper. She helps people understand and apply sustainability principles in practical, common sense ways, and provides systematic approaches to produce measurable improvement.

Thea Bellos, MBA

Thea Bellos, MBA

Thea Bellos is the founding principal of The Bellos Group, a global marketing and management consulting firm. The firm provides market research, strategic planning, business consulting and training services to professional service firms and corporations in the engineering, environmental and legal industries, and to non-profit cultural organizations. She is currently serving as the President of the Global Stewards Institute, a non-profit transnational, experiential educational program delivered in a sea-faring environment.
