On August 25th the Marin County Board of Supervisors certified the Farm House Restaurant & Bar, and the Point Reyes Seashore Lodge, located in Olema, for making remarkable environmental improvements.  Assisted by Cohort R Green MBA candidates Mark Petrie-Dieve, Josh Atlas and Paul Sternberger, the restaurant and lodge applied and were certified as a green business under the Marin Green Business Program, part of the larger Bay Area Green Business Program.  The Program encompasses nine counties in the Bay Area, over 1,800 businesses and certifies the significant environmental improvements of participating businesses.

At the award ceremony, co-owner Susan Cockroft showed appreciation for the collaboration and support offered by Green MBA students, when she said “There’s really no reason people can’t do this…you can get a lot of help.”

Demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement in the areas of decreasing waste, water and energy conservation, and pollution reduction, the owners have embarked on environmental improvements for their other Marin and Sonoma county businesses, The Tomales Bay Resort and McNear’s Saloon and Dining House.

Green MBA students conduct external projects for businesses and organizations throughout the Bay Area as part of their curriculum in marketing, eco-commerce models, operations management and sustainability.  If your organization has a project that might be appropriate for a team of Green MBAs, please let us know.  Email:
