Joseph Monte

Joseph Monte, LEED-AP After graduating from U.C. Berkeley in 2004, Joseph took one glance at the ‘office’ job market and jumped into the construction field. After the bubble burst and the dust settled, he realized he would probably never build bigger and bigger homes with imaginary money again. His exploration of more sustainable careers led him to green building conferences and eventually the GreenMBA.

At Dominican, the focus on the endless opportunities in the face of climate change pushes him to stay abreast of leading edge of local and regional entrepreneurial projects. He believes that communicating the opportunities around climate change through the lens of foodshed issues provides people with concepts they can relate to. As such, along with JP Hailer he helped the Marin Farmers Market Association assess their pioneering Farm to Fork program. In 2010, he will continue to explore business models that support increased access to nutricious food. He believes the growing awareness of 'foodsheds' will fuel the use of systemic approaches to reinvigorate communities and ecosystems. If you can’t find Joe studying, you’ll probably find him training for a triathlon, or scouting the next class IV rapid.

What people are saying about the GreenMBA

"The GreenMBA is a departure from Business-As-Usual. Where most business schools include the environment and CSR as electives or footnotes, they serve as our foundations. I feel honored and fortunate for the opportunity to participate in this transformative process--of myself and the business world.

Small cohort sizes are amazing--we each have a voice that is heard regularly and the instructors have the freedom to use the most creative and effective exercises with such an intimate group."
