Sustainability
The Green MBA approachs sustainability as a complex issue--not only studying and using existing tools, frameworks and practices, but also creating new ways of thinking about how to resolve and mitigate complex issues such as climate change. We foster different ways of thinking through essential coursework in critical, systemic and design thinking—concepts that are also integrated throughout the curriculum and the program.
Leadership
Leaders of sustainable business understand their own purpose and beliefs--why they believe what they believe and how they arrived at that place. They need to be clear about how they think and the line of reasoning used to establish their beliefs and vision. With a deep understanding of their convictions and strong reasoning, decision makers and business leaders can effectively communicate and influence others. In the Green MBA, leadership evolves naturally through personal transformation as well as the development of key business skills.
Entrepreneurship
Our philosophy is that all businesses, new or existing, need to be entrepreneurial in order to survive and thrive in these times. The Green MBA provides the knowledge and understanding for venture creation, as well as the skills necessary to convert strategy into action. Leaders in sustainability employ well-reasoned decision-making practices to progress from idea generation to successful launch of an initiative or business.
Innovation
Innovative concepts emerge from a culture of trust and suspended judgment. Innovation also requires collaboration and an environment where creativity is welcomed and celebrated. The Green MBA culture encourages ongoing discourse--challenging how things are done, listening to different perspectives and inviting diverse perspectives into the conversation. This is place where a very bold idea can be introduced and fostered.
Methodology
Since its inception over a decade ago, the Green MBA has used experiential learning as a core methodology. Working with existing companies, local governments and non-profits from the first semester students receive tremendous opportunities to design and implement initiatives that draw on coursework, integrating learning into real-world situations continuously. Curriculum builds throughout the program so students practice what has been learned and to intentionally develop more sophisticated skills and approaches throughout the program.
