The GreenMBA program at Dominican University of California is the nation's first MBA in Sustainable Enterprise. Since its inception in 2000, our mission has been to offer business education for those seeking to promote financial viability, ecological sustainability, and social justice in business and organizations of all types.
"The GreenMBA program informs my work . . . everyday — from bigger picture visioning, to nuts and bolts business management." - Shana McCracken, Graduate Spring 2003
People learn most effectively with supportive faculty and peers in an encouraging, open environment. Our student to faculty ratio of 15:1 allows a high degree of participation and communication, ensuring that faculty know students as individuals. Classes meet every two weeks--frequent enough that learning is reinforced and continuous.
Leaders in sustainablity require an understanding of their convictions and strong reasoning. Our students learn to be decision makers, capable of effectively communicating and influencing others. As curriculum builds throughout the program, students develop more sophisticated skills, preparing them to lead in socially conscious businesses.
The Green MBA approaches sustainability as a complex issue--not only studying and using existing tools, frameworks and practices, but also creating new ways of thinking about how to resolve and mitigate complex issues such as climate change. Our education in sustainability has prepared our alumni for careers in non-profits, business ventures, and corporate management.
The Green MBA provides the knowledge and understanding for venture creation, as well as the skills necessary to convert strategy into action. Leaders in sustainability employ well-reasoned decision-making practices to progress from idea to successful launch of an initiative or business. Many of these innovative ideas, fostered in the classroom, are later realized at our business incubator Venture Greenhouse.
